Discover what can happen when you don’t plan everything in advance
What would a creature look like if anything were possible? Maybe it has three eyes, a fish tail, enormous hands or a head you’ve never seen before. Don’t think too much – let your imagination do the work.
Be inspired by the imaginative world of artist Eko Nugroho. In his work, people, animals, machines and masks come together in extraordinary hybrid creatures: half human, half machine, with masks, strange heads, mechanical hands and unexpected combinations of animals, objects and human bodies.
Together with your family or in pairs, you will create one new creature. Through a series of short exercises, you’ll get to work yourselves. Starting with lines you draw yourselves, you’ll create a shared basic shape and combine it with hands, tails, masks, tools or plants to form a wayang-like silhouette. Switch off your analytical mind for a moment, see what comes to you and create a creature together that can exist only in your imagination.
