As part of the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam exhibition Kruispunt Rotterdam, Gershwin Bonevacia performs with his band and ZO! Gospel Choir in dialogue with the museum, bridging past and present, near and far.
He creates a soundscape in which rap, gospel, soul, jazz, classical orchestrations, and Caribbean rhythms converge into a polyphony of cultures. Similarly, the exhibition shows how cultures in Rotterdam meet and continue to change. The concert begins with an artist talk about his Rotterdam roots, working methods, and inspiration.

How far do you reach when you look up?
Have you ever been to a concert in a museum?
How much space do you give yourself to ascend?
Gershwin Bonevacia & DOX present Concert at the Museum: a sonic journey showing that when we dare to evaporate, we rise together. That is the essence Gershwin communicates in this musical manifesto.
In a world that often gets stuck, Gershwin Bonevacia, together with his band and ZO! Gospel Choir, creates a musical compass that points upwards. A musical dialogue emerges in the ballroom of the museum: architecture becomes sound, history becomes future, and every visitor is part of this upward movement. An ode to everyone who is rising or wants to reach further than their current point. An invitation to strive higher than you ever dared.
Poet, writer, and performer Gershwin Bonevacia, winner of the Gouden Ganzenveer 2026, enters the museum as curator of his own metamorphosis. His debut album “Omhoog” marks the moment when Bonevacia stops choosing between art forms and starts merging them. The album is his definitive statement: beauty is not divided, beauty is integral.
“From the very first words, Bonevacia manages to enchant, supported by the warm sounds of guitar, piano, drums, and vocals. But above all, with the power of his poetic language.”
