Art of indigenous skateboarding: More than tricks and stunts

From 20 November, Art of Indigenous Skateboarding brings the art and stories of Indigenous artists and skateboarding communities from across the Americas to Rotterdam.

Explore art, photography, film and remarkable skateboard decks from countries including Canada, the United States, Mexico and Bolivia. Experience how Indigenous skaters and artists use skateboarding to celebrate cultures and communities, pass on stories and express their connection to Land.

Skateboard as a powerful canvas

Skateboarding is about freedom, joy and pushing boundaries. But it also creates space to express identity and reclaim places. In Art of Indigenous Skateboarding, see how the skateboard deck has become a powerful artistic medium, bringing together ancestral knowledge, cultural motifs and stories of today.

The exhibition also introduces skateparks and collectives where new generations come together, carry traditions forward and shape their own futures.

A remarkable exhibition filled with creativity, movement and stories, soon to be seen and experienced in Rotterdam.

The exhibition was developed in partnership with The Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles.

More information about the exhibition and public programme will follow soon.
